Five quick questions. We send your request to portable restroom suppliers across Central Texas and the quotes come back to you. Compare and pick — or don't.

Food truck parks and vendor lots are among the few genuinely long-term portable sanitation placements, serving the public every day. That changes the calculus on service frequency and on which items are legally required rather than nice to have.

Handwashing is the requirement

Texas retail food rules require handwashing facilities with soap and running water accessible to food handlers. For a mobile food operation without plumbed facilities, that is a handwashing station, and it is the item health inspectors look for. Sanitizer stands do not satisfy it.

One station per operator is the safe planning number on a multi-truck lot, or a larger four-station unit centrally placed with clear access from each truck.

Public restrooms and service frequency

Customer-facing units on a daily-operating lot get used far harder than event units. Weekly service is not enough. Twice weekly is the realistic minimum and three times a week is common on busy lots.

Because it is open to the public, at least one accessible unit is expected. On a lot with several units, apply the five percent standard.

Consider a deluxe flushing unit for the customer-facing position. On a lot competing for repeat customers, the difference between a standard unit and a flushing unit with a sink is a real part of the experience.

Term pricing

This is an ongoing placement, so quote it as a term, not month to month. Six and twelve month agreements carry meaningfully better rates, and suppliers value the route predictability enough to discount for it.

Get the service schedule and the restocking responsibility in writing. On a daily-operating lot, paper and soap consumption is high and who refills it between service visits should not be ambiguous.

Questions

Food Truck & Vendor Sites FAQ

Do food trucks need a handwashing station?

+

Yes. Texas retail food rules require handwashing with soap and running water for food handlers, and a mobile operation without plumbed facilities meets that with a portable handwashing station. Hand sanitizer supplements it but does not satisfy the requirement.

How often should food truck park restrooms be serviced?

+

Twice weekly at minimum for a daily-operating lot, three times a week on busy ones. Weekly service — the construction standard — is not enough for public-facing units in continuous use.

Are there long-term rates for permanent placements?

+

Yes, and they are worth asking for specifically. Six and twelve month agreements price well below month-to-month because suppliers value a predictable route stop. Few will offer the term rate unprompted.
