Austin's production market runs commercials, features, series work and a heavy calendar of branded content. Sanitation on a production is a base camp line item, and the requirement that separates a production supplier from a general one is the ability to move on a day's notice.
Two tiers, always
Standard practice splits into a restroom trailer for talent and department heads and standard units for general crew. Trying to serve a fifty-person crew and talent out of the same two-stall trailer creates exactly the friction you are paying to avoid.
For anything with a talent hold longer than half a day, the trailer is not optional. Air conditioning, a mirror, a counter and a lock are the actual product.
Mobility and turnaround
Location shoots move. A supplier who can strike from one location and set at another between wrap and call is worth a premium over one quoting a fixed placement. Ask directly about move fees and same-day repositioning before you book.
Confirm generator compatibility. Productions run their own power, and a trailer that expects shore power needs to be tied into the genny plan or come with its own quiet unit. A loud generator on a sound-sensitive set is a problem you find out about during a take.
Remote and multi-day
For remote Hill Country or ranch locations running multiple days, add a shower trailer if crew is housed on or near location. Combination shower and restroom trailers are usually the better buy than sourcing both.
Service timing has to fit the shooting schedule. Pumping during a take is not workable, so the servicing window belongs on the call sheet and in the supplier agreement.

What restroom setup does a film production need?

The standard split is a restroom trailer for talent and department heads plus standard units for general crew, roughly one per ten to fifteen crew. Multi-day remote shoots with housed crew add a shower trailer, usually as a combination shower and restroom unit.
Can a supplier move units between locations?

Some can, some quote it as a strike and a new delivery. For a multi-location shoot, ask about move fees and same-day repositioning before booking. That capability is the main thing separating production-experienced suppliers from general ones.
How do trailers handle power on set?

Either tied into production power or on a dedicated quiet inverter generator. Confirm the noise rating — a standard contractor generator is loud enough to be a problem on a sound-sensitive set.
