What Porta Potty Rental Actually Costs in Central Texas

Every line item on a portable restroom quote, what the real ranges are across the Austin region, and the four charges that are not in the number you were quoted on the phone.

Portable restroom pricing looks simple and is not. The same standard unit can be quoted at $95 or $185 for what sounds like the same thing, and the difference is almost never the unit. It is the service schedule, the delivery distance, the rental term and which charges the supplier folded into the headline number.

This page lays out the ranges we see across the Austin region and the surrounding counties, line item by line item, so you can tell whether two quotes are actually comparable. Every figure here is a typical market range, not a quote. Real pricing depends on your distance from the supplier's yard, how many units you take, and the time of year.

Typical Central Texas ranges. Not quotes. Distance, unit count and season all move these.

Why the same unit has a hundred dollar spread

Three things drive almost all of the variance, and none of them are the plastic box.

Distance from the yard. Suppliers price off drive time, and the Central Texas yards cluster around Austin, Round Rock, San Marcos, New Braunfels and the Bell County corridor. A placement in Manor and an identical placement in Llano are not the same product to the supplier, even though the unit is identical. On rural placements the delivery and per-visit service premium frequently exceeds the unit rate itself.

Service frequency. A monthly construction rate bundles four weekly service visits. A cheaper monthly rate very often bundles two. That is the single most common reason two quotes look different and the number one thing to ask about before comparing.

Term and count. Ten units for six months prices very differently per unit than one unit for one month. Suppliers discount for route predictability, and most will not volunteer the term rate unless you ask for it by name.

The four charges that are not in the headline number

  • Delivery and pickup. Sometimes bundled, sometimes a separate $50 to $150 depending on distance. Ask which.
  • Extra service visits. Beyond the included schedule, typically $25 to $75 per visit. On a hot summer jobsite you will want these.
  • Damage and relocation. Moving a unit after placement is usually billed. So is a tipped or damaged unit, and the waiver, if offered, is a line item.
  • Generator and water for trailers. A restroom trailer without site power needs a generator, typically $150 to $400 for a weekend. Fresh water fill can be separate too.

Ask every supplier the same question: what is the total, delivered, picked up, with the service schedule I need? A quote that answers that is comparable. A per-unit rate is not.

Event pricing versus construction pricing

These are two different products and suppliers quote them differently. An event rate is a weekend placement with no servicing — delivered Thursday or Friday, picked up Monday. A construction rate is a monthly term with weekly service bundled in.

That means a monthly construction rate of $150 and a weekend event rate of $150 are wildly different values. The monthly rate includes four service visits and a thirty day term. Make sure you know which one you are being quoted.

If your need is somewhere in between — a two week festival build, a three week remodel — ask for the monthly rate specifically. It is almost always cheaper than two or three weekend rentals stacked together, and the crossover point is usually around ten days.

What moves price in Central Texas specifically

Season is real here. Spring and fall are peak wedding and festival season across the Hill Country, and October is the single busiest month for community events in the region. On those weekends, supply tightens and discounting stops. Summer is peak construction demand and peak service load, because heat forces more frequent servicing.

Geography matters more than in a flatter market. The supplier yards sit along the I-35 spine. Anything west into the Hill Country — Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Fredericksburg, the Highland Lakes — carries a real delivery premium, and the spread between suppliers on those placements is much wider than in the metro. That is exactly where sending one request to several suppliers pays for itself.

Access affects price too. Trailer placements on properties with narrow gates, low limbs or unlevel pads sometimes need a smaller unit or extra setup time, and honest suppliers price that in rather than discovering it on delivery day.

How to actually compare two quotes

  • Same unit type and count
  • Same rental term — weekend, month, or a specific date range
  • Same number of service visits inside that term
  • Delivery and pickup included or itemised the same way
  • Generator and water handled the same way for trailers
  • Damage waiver present or absent on both
  • Any distance or fuel surcharge disclosed

Questions

Frequently asked

How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for a weekend in Austin?

+

A single standard unit typically runs $110 to $200 for a weekend, delivered Thursday or Friday and picked up Monday, with no servicing needed. Deluxe flushing units run $175 to $350 and ADA accessible units $150 to $300. Placement well outside the metro carries a delivery premium on top.

How much is a porta potty per month for a construction site?

+

A standard unit with weekly service typically runs $120 to $200 a month in Central Texas, including delivery, pickup and four service visits. A combo unit with an integrated handwashing sink runs $160 to $300. Verify how many service visits are actually included before comparing two monthly rates.

What does a restroom trailer cost for a wedding?

+

Roughly $600 to $1,200 for a two-stall weekend, $900 to $1,800 for a four-stall, and $1,800 to $4,000 for eight stalls and up. Luxury-finish trailers run fifty to a hundred percent above those ranges. Generator rental, attendant service and long-distance delivery are typically separate lines.

Are there hidden fees on portable toilet rentals?

+

Not hidden so much as unstated. The four that catch people are delivery and pickup, extra service visits beyond the included schedule, relocation or damage charges, and generator or water for restroom trailers. Ask for the total delivered price with your required service schedule and those all surface.

Is it cheaper to rent by the month?

+

Past about ten days, almost always. A monthly term with weekly service typically costs less than two or three stacked weekend rentals, and it includes servicing that weekend rates do not. If your project runs past three months, ask for a term rate on top of that.
